eBay Finds: Great Vintage Watches from Seiko, Citizen, and More!

eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at info@wornandwound.com for potential inclusion.

Vintage Seiko LCD

How about a full-kit vintage Seiko LCD to start us off this week? This gem heralds from 1984 and looks every bit the 80’s watch! The squarish stainless steel case is excellent, unpolished and sharp with the original finish. The crystal looks clean, and the LCD display works well. The original bracelet is superb as well, with the Seiko SQ signed buckle. The caseback even has the original little oval sticker. This watch looks new old stock, and maybe it is. It comes complete with the inner and outer boxes, instruction booklet, price tag and hangtag! Can’t beat this gem!

Vintage Citizen Leopard Super Beat 8

Next up is a seldom seen vintage Citizen Leopard Super Beat 8. The Super Beat has a hi-beat movement for better accuracy. The oval/cushion case looks unpolished, and has light wear to it but looks more like a nice steel patina than wear for me. The gray dial is excellent, with raised stick markers that have lume, skinny hands and a vertical day/date at 6 o’clock. The crystal is a mineral glass that has some scratches. The crown is original and signed with the Citizen logo, and the mesh bracelet is original as well and also signed. The movement is clean and runs well per the seller. These vintage hi-beat Citizen’s rarely pop up for sale in my experience.

Vintage Seiko Bell-Matic

This vintage Seiko Bell-Matic is a really nice example of the classic Seiko alarm watch. The large stainless steel case is excellent, unpolished with crisp edges and the original brushed and polished finishes. The charcoal dial is in perfect condition, with the ubiquitous Seiko day/date window at 3 o’clock. The alarm setting ring is internal, and rotates via the original crown. You use the button at 2 o’clock to turn the alarm on and off. This example comes with the original steel bracelet. The movement is clean and runs properly per the seller. You can never go wrong with a Bell-Matic.

Vintage Longines Admiral HF

Coming at ya with another hi-beat movement, this time a nice vintage Longines Admiral HF. The 34mm stainless steel case has a classic style, and is unpolished with sharp edges and sweet radial brushed finish. The silver dial is clean and simple with thin stick markers. Slim steel hands with lume and black inlays look sharp. No date window preserves the beautiful symmetry. The Longines hi-beat manual wind movement is a beauty, and clean as a whistle. Great looking piece with a high end manual wind movement….wow!

Vintage Wittnauer Automatic

Here’s another nice sporty dress watch with a steel case and silver dial. This vintage Wittnauer has a nice 33.5mm stainless steel case with cool, angular lugs. The case looks unpolished with sharp edges. The Wittnauer signed crown is recessed into the case at 3 o’clock, giving it a sleek look. The silver crosshair dial has really nice faceted arrow markers, and is in great shape. The dauphine hands are lume filled, but the minute hand is missing a bit of the lume. No movement pictures but the seller states the watch runs.

Vintage Seiko Speed Timer 6138-8010

When it rains it pours right? Finishing off this week with the third Seiko pick, this time a rare Seiko 5 Sports Speed-Timer chronograph 6138-8010. This model is a beauty, with a killer, exotic blue dial that looks different from different angles. The steel case shows a little wear, but looks unpolished. The watch comes on the correct original bracelet, signed with the “5 Sports” logo. The dial and hands are original and in excellent condition, with just a touch of discoloration to some of the lume. Overall a really hard to find, original Seiko chronograph that was only released to the Japanese domestic market. Seller states it was serviced and that it functions as it should.
