Recap: An Analog Evening with Accutron, Esterbrook, and The Brooklyn Scribe at the Windup Watch Shop Showroom

Last Thursday evening, the Windup Watch Shop’s Brooklyn Showroom played host to a packed house for a special event celebrating the intersection of watchmaking and writing instruments, with Accutron and Esterbrook taking center stage.

Envisioned as an intimate opportunity to go hands-on with Accutron’s latest Spaceview 314 collection, the event quickly evolved into a lively, tactile experience that blended horology, craftsmanship, and a shared appreciation for design heritage. Guests filtered in throughout the evening, filling the space with energy as conversations sparked over Accutron’s open-work dials, Tuning Fork technology, and the parallels between both timekeeping and writing instruments.

Accutron’s team was on hand to walk attendees through the technical and aesthetic nuances of the Spaceview 314, offering a closer look at the brand’s continued evolution of its Tuning Fork movement technology. American writing instrument maker, Esterbrook, unveiled a new fountain pen inspired by Accutron’s signature Spaceview design language, creating a compelling collab between the two brands—one rooted in time, the other in communication, but both strong examples of personal expression.

But what truly elevated the evening was the addition of live, custom calligraphy by The Brooklyn Scribe. Throughout the night, guests were invited to commission personalized pieces, turning names, phrases, and moments into beautifully rendered works of art. The presence of hand lettering in real time added a human, analog counterpoint to the precision engineering on display—reinforcing the shared ethos between watches and writing: both are ultimately about marking time in a meaningful way.

Adding another interactive layer to the experience, a professional wristwatch photo station gave attendees the chance to capture their timepieces in a whole new light. Complete with proper lighting and background, the station allowed guests to photograph their Accutron watches, whether newly acquired or longtime favorites, with a level of detail typically reserved for editorial shoots. It quickly became a focal point of the evening, drawing a steady crowd of enthusiasts eager to document their collections and share them.

The showroom itself buzzed with activity. Beverages flowed, including a “Gold Rush” signature cocktail crafted for the occasion, celebrating a solid gold Accutron Spaceview 2020 vault-find that was specially showcased at the event. Conversations moved easily between seasoned enthusiasts, newcomers, and the high-knowledgable Accutron brand reps. The evening ended in one of our classic event giveaways, where fans won an EDC giveaway by the Windup Watch Shop, classic Accutron dad hats, and last-but-not-least… one of the all-new Accutron x Esterbrook Spaceview Fountain Pens!

More than just a product showcase, the evening succeeded in creating a fully immersive experience, one that highlighted not only the craftsmanship behind Accutron and Esterbrook, but also the cultural and creative spaces they inhabit. From the hum of the crowd to the scratch of a nib on paper, and the click of camera shutters—it was a reminder that even in a digital world, there’s still something powerful about engaging with analog objects, and each other, up close and personal.
