Albishorn Just Expanded its Marinagraph Collection With Two Ultra-Classic Colorways

It wouldn’t be summer without a proper skin diver or regatta timer, or how about both? Roughly one year ago, we got the latest reimagining from Albishorn, giving us a mash up of two seafaring classics with the brand’s signature vintage-inspired spin. The result was the Marinagraph, originally offered in two colors, one with a sunburst black dial with lume-filled applied silver indices called the “Classic Racing” and one with a bolder sunburst Paraíba tourmaline green dial with lume-filled black indices called the “Paraíba Racing.” The Classic Racing variant got its own pops of color with green accents on the bezel along with a red strap highlighting the red accents seen across both versions in the chronograph hand, tide indicator, regatta timer, and model name printed beneath the brand name in retro script. Needless to say, the debut duo of Marinagraph Classics offered an audacious combination of styling and functionality. This summer, Albishorn presents another pair of colors to join the collection, this time with a slightly more classic and sober design, aptly named the Classic Fume and simply the Classic.

As a refresher, the foundation of the Marinagraph design draws inspiration from the America’s Cup crews, in particular those in the race’s renaissance. The 1958 edition marked the race’s return after a long hiatus post-war, and one of the standout vessels was Columbia, the American yacht representing the New York Yacht Club. This vessel notably featured an aluminum mast, which was an unconventional yet forward-thinking choice at the time both reducing weight and increasing performance. The Marinagraph is a chronograph conceived for the intense demands of pre-race timing and in-race decision-making that crews like those on Columbia would face.

At the core of the design is a 10-minute retrograde countdown function. Unlike conventional countdown timers that reset automatically, the Marinagraph’s mechanism disengages at zero, freezing the hand in place – a subtle feature that helps prevent visual confusion at the starting gun. Another key feature is the Marinagraph’s large, high-contrast tide indication bezel with a layout designed for immediate comprehension, even in turbulent conditions. Lastly, the Marinagraph gives a nod to Columbia with an aluminum bezel and chronograph pusher.

For the latest colorways to join the collection, we have two timeless executions: the Classic with an all-black look extending across the dial and bezel and the Classic Fume with a white fume dial and contrasting black bezel. Aside from the more subdued black and white makeups of the dial and bezel, we get the same playful accents of red and blue throughout the central chronograph hand, patented 10-minute retrograde regatta countdown at 7 o’clock, and color-accented aperture at 3 o’clock that serves as a running indicator.

The proportions and overall composition remain consistent with the inaugural models, with 39mm stainless steel cases. Given the functionality, the model remains relatively streamlined at 13mm thickness thanks to the COSC-certified automatic mono-pusher chronograph movement, the ALB01 A. This caliber offers a remarkably slim height for an automatic chronograph (measuring just 6.60mm), which allows for a thinner profile that more authentically evokes the spirit of vintage chronographs. Flip the case over, and you have the same engraving as the originals depicting a sailing yacht.

Both the Classic and Classic Fume are topped off with the option of a rubber strap or a bracelet, as a new addition to the collection. The Marinagraph with two rubber straps is priced at 3,950 CHF (approximately $4,885 USD at the time of publication) whereas the versions on the steel bracelet, also supplied with two additional rubber straps, are priced at CHF 4,400 (approximately $5,440 USD at the time of publication).
